• Rectangle Plates

Plate is the most practical form of primary materials in constructing pressured equipment. On average, over 70 percent of the pressured vessels’ weight consists of plate. This topic gains more significance when we hold an equivalence between the value of a ten-millimeter sheet of Carbon Steel plate with 2000 x 6000 mm standard dimensions and other strategic items:

Weight of one sheet of plate = 942 Kg (6 x 2 x 0.01 x 7850)

Price of one sheet of plate 942 x 20,000 = 18,840,000 Rials ~ 942 $

If the average value of each barrel of oil is considered as $94,

Approximate value of each ten-millimeter sheet of plate will be equal to 10 barrels of oil!

To put it into more tangible words:

Approximate value of saving on one ten-millimeter sheet of Carbon Steel plate as large as a palm will be more than one dollar!

0.1 * 0.2 * 0.01 * 7850 = 1.8 Kg

1.8 * 20,000 = 36,000 Rials ~ 1 $

Based on what has been mentioned, saving on plate consumption has been taken into account as one of the most important goals in designing PVManage software. Plates used in constructing pressured equipment are produced in the following forms:

  • Rectangular
  • Disk
  • Ring
  • Shape

Most plates (that, with regard to their weight, are used in constructing Shell and similar pieces) are rectangular when developed and prior to forming. Length accordance of these pieces with the raw plate’s longitude is the most fundamental principle in forming them. On that basis, the report produced for these pieces in the software is in line with this fact. How these pieces play their roles in the project’s final plot and required materials’s estimation will be explained in Nesting chapter (which thoroughly elaborates on achieving the best arrangement for the project’s plates along with the related considerations). An example of reports on rectangular plates is as follows:

Fig. 129 – (Example of Material Report for Rectangle Plates)

Wherever present in the program, plate pieces will exist in the aforementioned report, whether you have entered them directly into the program (like Shell pieces), or indirectly and produced as a result of a piece entrance (like Nozzle made of plate), and a rectangular acting as their constituent plate.
